Title: Nico O'Reilly: Growing up as a midfielder helped me play as an inside left-back
Manchester City defender Nico O'Reilly said in an interview that his experience of playing in midfield has helped him play as an inside left-back.
Nico O'Reilly says Manchester City are ready for the final push as the season enters an exciting final stage.
Manchester City will face Everton on Monday night as they look to keep the pressure on leaders Arsenal.
Manchester City will also have five Premier League games and the FA Cup final against Chelsea this month. O'Reilly said the team is currently focused and determined and willing to give everything.
"We're feeling good, we're positive and we're ready for the last few weeks and we're ready to give it our all," he said.
"There are a lot of experienced players in the locker room who, as leaders, will help the younger players and newer players who may not have been through this situation, and that helps everyone."
"We are confident in ourselves. There are still a few games to play, and the result may not be decided until the last one."
"We will try to win every game and score as many goals as possible. We will go all out in every game to perform well and win the game."
“We’re excited about these last few weeks.”
O'Reilly said he has thoroughly enjoyed his experience so far this season but won't look back on his progress until his final game.
"There are a lot of games and they're very intense, and I feel like there's not a lot of time to reflect right now," he said.
"I think that will have to wait until we have a break. The most important thing now is to keep working hard, keep moving forward, stay focused and try to keep winning."
"I've enjoyed every moment of this season. When I'm on the court, I do everything I can to help the team wherever I can."
"Whether it's defending, scoring goals, or playing in the middle, as long as I can do anything for the team, I'm happy."
"I like to play with freedom and show my abilities and show what I can do."
“I grew up as a midfielder, always playing centrally, so I think it helps me to play as an inside left-back because I’m used to playing in those positions.”
Talking about his role as a role model in the youth training, inspiring young players who want to stand out and follow in his footsteps, he added: "It helps young players a lot. Seeing players like me, Foden and Rico Lewis enter the first team will make them understand that there are paths and ways to enter the first team."
"I think it's very important for me and I've seen some players who are a little bit older than me do it and it gives me a lot of confidence."
“It helps me a lot and hopefully it does the same for them.”
